Smoking
How it works
Visible aging of the face
Smoking accelerates skin aging and promotes wrinkles. A study comparing seventy-nine pairs of identical twins with different smoking histories notably observed more signs of aging in certain areas of the face in the most exposed. This is an argument for preserving the skin over time, rather than waiting for a cream to correct the accumulated effects.
Gums are part of the appearance of the smile
Tobacco increases the risk of gum disease and hinders its healing. These tissues hold the teeth in place; When they are affected, the problem goes beyond the color of the smile and can go as far as tooth loss. Quitting helps reduce this risk, but damage already present may require dental treatment.
Nicotine maintains addiction
The lack of nicotine and associations with certain situations make cravings difficult to overcome. Substitutes provide nicotine without smoking tobacco, to reduce symptoms during withdrawal. Using this aid therefore does not cancel the cessation: it serves to keep you away from cigarettes while working on the actions and moments that trigger it.
The shutdown also preserves the possibilities of recovery
Quitting reduces the risks associated with smoking and provides respiratory and cardiovascular benefits over time. For appearance, we must distinguish between what can evolve and what is already established: not all wrinkles or dental damage will disappear. You nevertheless stop adding this exposure and find better conditions to maintain your skin, your mouth and your physical condition.
