Caffeine serum 5% 30 ml — The Ordinary

Identify what you want to improve
Observe your eye contour in daylight, then compare how it looks in the morning and evening. A brown tint can evoke a pigmentary component; a blue or purplish appearance may be related to the visibility of structures under the skin. A swelling that varies throughout the day does not look like a stable low. These clues guide the choice of treatment, but are not enough to identify a cause with certainty: dark circles are often mixed.
Define a concrete goal before buying: less swelling when you wake up, less dry skin or less marked discoloration. This will allow you to judge a precise change. If the area is itchy, red or peeling, start by having the irritation assessed; adding a lightening active ingredient to an already sensitized eyelid can maintain the problem instead of solving it.
Choose just one suitable treatment
For a dry and wrinkled contour, first look for a well-tolerated moisturizing formula, for example with glycerin, hyaluronic acid or ceramides. For small pockets, a caffeine treatment can be tried, keeping in mind that its benefit varies depending on the origin of the swelling. For pigment coloring, niacinamide or certain forms of vitamin C are options to consider in a formula intended for this area.
A pleasant texture, clear instructions and a price you can maintain are more important than a long list of active ingredients. If your contour is sensitive, choose a simple, fragrance-free formula. Do not automatically apply your facial serum under the eyes: a product that is well applied to the cheeks can irritate the eyelids. Buying several treatments at the same time also makes it difficult to identify which one helps or hinders you.
Apply a small amount without rubbing
After gentle cleansing, apply the amount indicated on the package with clean hands. Distribute it over the area authorized by the instructions, without pulling on the skin and without approaching the inside of the eye. A thin layer is enough; a strong massage or more product does not make the active ingredient more effective. For an aqueous serum, the moisturizer can come next if your skin needs it.
For The Ordinary serum presented in this sheet, the manufacturer indicates a small amount on the eye contour, morning and evening, before moisturizer. He advises a preliminary test on a small area of skin. This frequency concerns this formula: it does not automatically apply to all anti-dark circle treatments. If irritation occurs, rinse and stop using the product; persistent symptoms warrant medical advice.
Give care the right conditions to act
Keep a regular routine and avoid rubbing your eyes. sun protection and sunglasses have their place when the sun maintains pigmentation; choose protection adapted to this area and respect its precautions for use. Sufficient sleep can also improve a tired appearance, without removing dark circles linked to anatomy or a family predisposition. The sheets on sun protection and sleep allow you to deepen these habits.
Evaluate the result under comparable conditions
Take a photo before you start, then retake it from time to time in the same place, with the same lighting and at a similar time. Compare clean skin, before applying the day: a shiny finish or a more flattering light can give an impression of improvement that does not come from the treatment. Also note the comfort and possible irritations. This method is mainly used to avoid successive purchases guided by changing impressions.
Take an initial assessment after approximately four to eight weeks of regularity, following the deadline announced for your formula; This benchmark is not a guarantee of results and pigmentation may take more time. If nothing changes, re-examine the targeted need before increasing the dose or number of products. A new dark circle on one side, unusual swelling or pain merits medical advice rather than a new cosmetic trial.
