Eyebrow makeup
How it works
Color makes hairs more visible
A light hair can be barely visible on light skin even when it is present. Applying a darker shade increases its contrast with the skin and gives more presence to the eyebrow. This effect explains why a small quantity of product can be enough: the change comes from what we see, without an increase in the number of hairs.
The gel colors the hairs, the pencil fills in the spaces
A tinted gel combines a base which is distributed over the hairs with pigments; some formulas also contain fiber. Once applied, the material makes the hairs more visible and can increase their apparent thickness. However, it does not replace the missing hairs: on a completely empty area, the result depends mainly on what is deposited on the skin.
The pencil leaves a more localized pigmented trace. Small, separate strokes can visually extend the direction of the hair, while a uniform coat hides the natural texture. The bottle brush is used to distribute and soften these traces. It is the combination of their finesse, their color and the spaces left between them which gives a discreet result.
The shade and quantity change the rendering
A shade is defined both by its depth and by its reflection, warmer, neutral or cold. Two equally dark browns can therefore produce a different result on the same eyebrow. The quantity also matters: several passes gradually make the color more opaque and can stick the hairs together, even with a well-chosen shade.
The beginning of the eyebrow often has a more diffuse transition than its center. Placing as much product there as on the body can create a very visible square boundary. Keeping your hand light in this area and leaving a few spaces between the hairs helps maintain this transition, rather than giving the same intensity everywhere.
A temporary effect, without action on the growth
The pigments remain on the surface of the hair and skin until they are removed or worn away. Hold depends on the formula, friction, water and sebum. A water-resistant product may last longer, but that does not make it permanent. Makeup removal returns the eyebrow to its initial state, without changing its location.
Makeup does not stimulate the follicle or treat hair loss. It can give a satisfactory visual result during the day, while growth issues fall under other approaches. The Eyebrows sheet helps to distinguish lack of color, lack of density and shape to adjust before choosing a solution.
