Lymphatic drainage

Summary

Effectiveness

1/3

Slight swelling may subside temporarily, but the aesthetic benefit remains little demonstrated on a healthy face. Massage does not cause fat loss.

Accessibility

3/3

The hands are enough and a few minutes allow a light massage. No specialized tools or products are necessary for this comfortable use.

Lymphatic drainage of the face is based on very light movements of the skin, intended to accompany the movement of the liquid present in the tissues. In an aesthetic routine, it can help to occasionally reduce a swollen appearance, especially when waking up. The effect is neither systematic nor lasting, and the evidence remains limited on a healthy face. Hands are enough: a roller or gua sha is an optional accessory, not the condition of the result.

If you want to try it, keep the gesture slow, superficial and comfortable, without trying to make the skin red. Massage does not reduce facial fat or transform the jawline. Sudden, painful or persistent swelling requires first understanding the cause. After an intervention, or in the event of lymphedema, the procedures must be adapted by a professional: a cosmetic routine does not replace therapeutic drainage.
