2018: group together endurance tests

A meta-analysis published in 2018 found an average favorable effect on endurance in oral supplementation trials. Doses and durations vary, and the authors do not identify a simple progression of benefit with dose. This synthesis supports the interest in continuing research, without making it possible to predict what a person will gain in a given race or session.

2023: attention shifts to aging

In 2023, a study published in Science reports favorable effects of supplementation on the longevity of mice and on health markers in other animal models. Human observations relate in particular to associations, not to a test demonstrating prolonged life. These results are attracting a lot of attention, but do not validate an anti-aging supplement for humans.

2025: re-examining the idea of an age-related lack

A 2025 study observes that blood taurine concentrations remain stable or increase with age in several human cohorts, as well as in monitored animals. It therefore contradicts the idea of a universal decline which would serve as a marker of aging. This work does not directly test the effectiveness of a supplement, but weakens the argument for taking it simply to replace a supposed loss.

2025: a sporting signal that remains uncertain

A meta-analysis on single dose brings together 23 randomized trials and 308 participants. She observes a small average effect on performance, with strong variations between studies. The authors rate the certainty of the evidence as low to very low. The sheet therefore retains an optional place for taurine, despite a favorable signal on certain exercises.
