Touching your face

How to use

Choose a gesture to correct

Observe the moments when your hand returns to your face: in front of the computer, while reading, while thinking or in front of the mirror. First choose the most common habit, for example chin resting on palm or fingers searching for an irregularity. A specific change is easier to apply than a general instruction to monitor all day.

Give your hands another place

As soon as you notice this gesture, put your hand back on the desk or on your thighs, then resume what you were doing. If you play with your beard while thinking, keep a pen in hand to take notes instead. Choose a position compatible with your activity, easy to find each time the same automatism returns.

Leave imperfections alone

Do not squeeze pimples or scratch scabs. In front of the mirror, finish your treatment then move on, instead of examining each pore from a few centimeters away. Also avoid constantly checking an imperfection with your fingers: this gesture easily invites you to manipulate it again, even when you had decided to leave it.

Prepare useful actions

Wash your hands before treating, shaving or maintaining eyebrows. Keep your nails short and clean, and use a clean towel to absorb sweat after sports. If an area itches regularly, look for what irritates it in your routine: removing this cause will be more effective than fighting the urge to scratch each time.
