History

At the beginning of the 20th century, accentuating eyelashes

The history of Maybelline, founded in Chicago in 1915, illustrates the importance of eyelash and eyebrow makeup in 20th century beauty products. Color makes their line more present. Styling, darkening and visually thickening become different ways of modifying the look, which products often combine in the same promise.

1960s: Twiggy's look

The portraits of Twiggy, named the face of 1966 by the Daily Express, show another place given to eyelashes. Her very accentuated look accompanies a short haircut and becomes one of the most recognizable signs of her appearance. In these images, the eyelashes contribute to an assumed graphic effect, very different from a simple brushing intended to put them back in place.

Volume added to the natural curvature

Extensions today allow you to add volume and length, while the eyelash curler works with the lashes already present. These approaches do not produce the same results and do not require the same maintenance. The preference retained in this sheet is a discreet correction of the direction: separate the eyelashes and lift them slightly, without trying to reproduce fashion makeup.
