Mewing

Summary

Effectiveness

1/3

Limited aesthetic benefit in adults: resting posture and presentation of the mouth, without demonstrated lasting bone transformation.

Accessibility

3/3

A habit of rest without equipment or dedicated session, if it remains comfortable and nasal breathing is possible.

Mewing refers to a habit of oral posture: tongue towards the palate, lips closed, nasal breathing and relaxed jaw. In its simple version, it is mainly used to become aware of the position of the mouth at rest. It requires no accessories or training sessions, and does not involve pushing with all your strength with your tongue.

A mouth less open by habit can change the presentation of the lower face. On the other hand, widening the jaw, clearly bringing the chin forward or permanently reshaping the bones of an adult using mewing alone has not been demonstrated. Keep this practice as a posture benchmark, with modest expectations for physical transformation.
