Resting lip posture

Summary

Effectiveness

2/3

An immediate change in presentation if the lips are habitually pursed or tucked in, with no demonstrated anatomical volume gain.

Accessibility

3/3

A habit without equipment, with a few guidelines to return to a resting position when closing is easy.

The position of the lips can change the appearance of the mouth without changing its size. Pressing them together or tucking them towards the teeth hides part of the vermilion, their red surface visible. By removing this compression, you allow more of the lips you already have to appear, with a less tight expression.

To find the position, pout like a kiss, then release until lips touch without pressing. Keep both lips visible and jaw relaxed. This benchmark from the looksmaxxing discussions helps to stop pursing your mouth; it changes its presentation, without creating additional volume.
