History

A color that doesn't say everything about cleanliness

The history of aesthetic smile care encounters a simple difficulty: what we see does not always have the same origin. A discoloration can be deposited on the outside, come from inside the tooth or combine several mechanisms. The classification of colorations made it possible to clarify these differences and avoid treating all dark teeth as a cleaning defect.

Clean and brighten: two different goals

This distinction explains the coexistence of treatments that remove deposits and treatments that chemically modify tooth color. A smile cleared of stains can retain a naturally ivory tone. Understanding the origin of the coloring therefore provides better direction than systematically looking for a more powerful product or eliminating more and more foods.

Measure rather than rely on an impression

Research on dental color has also developed the use of color charts, instrumental measurements and image analysis. Light, transparency and shine influence the perception of a tooth. To follow a change in your home, keep lighting comparable: two photographs taken in different conditions can give the impression of a result which mainly comes from the shooting.
